Child opens with the real laughter of Eric’s own children.

Becoming a father changed the way Eric understood love. In loving his children, he began to understand more deeply how profoundly he himself is loved. That realization became Child.

Like a tiny seed planted in this world, we take root and grow through grace. We wonder, we wander, we stumble, and none of us is perfect. Yet through it all, we are still called “child”—still held by a love that does not let go.

And through all the growing, falling, and finding our way home, Eric came to understand something simple:

To love and to be loved is at the heart of why we are here.

About ERIC HZ

Eric HZ is a Chinese singer-songwriter, music producer, performer, and host whose work is rooted in Chinese language and culture and shaped by fatherhood, faith, and human connection.

He studied under Chinese soprano and opera artist Wan Shanhong. His work has taken him across stages in China and the United States. In 2025, Eric performed his original song Child at the 21st Chinese American Film Festival & Chinese American TV Festival Golden Angel Awards Ceremony, where he also received the International Outstanding Contribution to Arts and Culture Award.

In 2026, he appeared as a host and guest performer for Tan Jing’s Musical Journey at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, and participated in a Recording Academy conversation on the future of Asian music.

Across these experiences, one idea has become central to his artistic perspective:

“Asian Pop should be a door, not a wall.”

For Eric, bringing Chinese music into the global conversation means carrying its language, culture, and identity with him.
